Harutyun Kushkyan, MD,
PhD is the Minister of
Health of Armenia, a medical educator
par excellence, a highly respected
researcher, a surgical endocrinologist -- and
a Plenary Session Speaker at the
Tenth Armenian Medical World Congress
(AMWC09), July 1-4,
2009.
Through Erebouni Hospital, where Dr.
Kushkyan was instrumental in
establishing Medical, Dental, and Nursing schools,
he has facilitated continuing medical
education that has directly improved patient care
in Armenia.
More than 60 Armenian physicians and nurses
have received additional medical training abroad,
and more than 80 physicians and nurses
from the United States, France, and Germany have
held and continue to hold, medical education
sessions and conferences at the Erebouni Medical
Center.
These are just a few of the
accomplishments of Dr. Kushkyan, who has received
awards from the University of Southern California
(USC) School of Medicine, Harvard Medical School
and Boston's Beth Israel Hospital, University of
California of Los Angeles (UCLA), American
International Health Association, Medal of
F.Nansen, Medal of the State Medical
University by M.Heratsi awarded by the Parliament
of the Republic of Armenia and the state
medal of M.Heratsi by Robert Kocharyan, the
President of the Republic of
Armenia.

Kushkyan at the opening reception on
Wednesday, July 1, or speak directly with him
on Thursday July 2 at the Plenary Session on
Comparative Health Care Systems.
Dr. Kushkyan is just one of the
