Lord Darzi, MD is the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Health in the UK, a health system reformist, one of the world's leading surgeons -- and a Plenary Session Speaker at the Tenth Armenian Medical World Congress (AMWC09), July 1-4, 2009. 
 
Professor Darzi, who was knighted in 2002 and elevated to the peerage in 2007, is a visionary who conducted a wide-ranging review of Britain's National Health Service. The ensuing report, High Quality Care for All, recommends dramatic changes to ensure the NHS is clinically led, patient-centered and locally accountable.
 
A pioneer in the areas of minimally invasive surgery and robotic surgery, Lord Darzi holds the Paul Hamlyn Surgery Chair at Imperial College, London.
 
Lord Darzi will be speaking on Thursday July 2 at the Plenary Session on Comparative Health Care Systems.
