This year marks the tenth anniversary of AAHPO’s Continuing Medical Education Program, founded by Raffi Hovanessian, MD and administered by the Fund for Armenian Relief. In 2020, this program expanded to meet the dual challenges of war and the COVID-19 pandemic. The program has proven to be vitally important to the health and future of the families and our wounded soldiers living in Artsakh.

AAHPO recognizes that good health is the foundation to future success and the well-being of our brethren living in Arstakh. Accordingly, AAHPO has committed to a program that trains motivated, bright physicians with modern medical skills that are critically needed in their home villages. You can make a difference in an Armenian child’s life and the lives of all their family members and wounded soldiers.

The need is urgent. There are tens of thousands of children and their families whose lives currently rely on a small group of physicians whose skills were learned many years ago. Put simply, medical knowledge is woefully out of date outside the major cities. What can $1,000 accomplish?

AAHPO can bring a physician to Yerevan for one month and teach them critically needed, state of the art medical skills like Cesarean Section childbirth techniques, the acute treatment of a heart attack, and other medical and surgical treatments. These much-needed training sessions will have immediate and long-term impact on health care delivery when the physician returns home.

In response to war related gaps in medical care, the CME program now also enables physicians from Armenia to work in Artsakh for up to six months. This work is coordinated with the Artsakh ministry of health. In addition, program graduates can continue their learning process through on-site seminars in Artsakh, as well as the AAHPO Medical Missions and Hye Bridge Telemedicine programs.

The money you donate today will allow us to continue to expand AAHPO’s program and train more physicians in a shorter time frame, enabling the program to have greater, immediate impact on healthcare delivery in Artsakh.
